The Pillow Module
The Pillow Module is a cube of latex foam (or alternative foams) measuring 22×22×22 cm, with a registered design separate and independent from the metal components. Each vertex has a rubber thimble for inserting magnetic spheres, ensuring connectivity with any magnetized SMUPI rigid module or any other Pillow Module.
The single Module feature 45 through-holes per axis for a total of 130 through-holes.
Inserting rods of stiffer material adjusts the elastic response
Softness modularity: from very soft to semi-rigid without changing the module
Fabric covers on 22 cm multiples: one or more cubes to create cushions, seats, backrests of any size
Cushions attach magnetically to each other and to rigid modules, and detach with a simple pull
Possible compositions: sofas, beds, armchairs, chairs — freely combinable with rigid modules
Example: one and two Pillow Module cubes in a 22×22 and 22×44 cm cover form the smallest cushion possibilities. If we place 4 Pillow Modules cubes in a 44×44 cm cover we form a seat cushion. Mounted on a 22×44×44 Box with magnetised components, they create an elegant Pouf that disassembles in seconds adding other module and reassembles in a different configuration you can create an armchair.
But the same armchair can be made with different pillows sizes.
In this rendering the pillows are set over rigid modules in a fabric that is coordinated with the pattern on the rigid modules
